The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is a public health association for chronic disease program directors of each state and U.S. territory. Since its founding in 1988, NACDD has been a national leader in the effort to reduce chronic diseases by mobilizing its members to advocate for preventive policies and programs, encourage knowledge sharing and develop model partnerships for health promotion through state and community-based prevention strategies.

Welcome to the Osteoporosis Council

On behalf our members, we invite you to join this group that collectively works to Protect Bones and Prevent Fractures. Our work is guided by our vision to achieve “optimal bone health for everyone.” We strive to accomplish this through our mission to “provide leadership, advocacy, and foster the public health agenda for osteoporosis prevention and management.”

If you are not already a member, please join us. The council has three ways to be a member:
  • Voting member – the Osteoporosis Program designee from each eligible agency (e.g., state, territory, district, commonwealth, or tribal organization) as identified by your Chronic Disease Director
  • Non-voting member – other interested staff from each eligible agency
  • Associate member – any health professional employed or interested in osteoporosis public health programs
The Osteoporosis Council has general member calls every other month on the third Thursday of the month with calls being held from Noon to 1 p.m. EST.  In 2010, calls will be held in February, April, June, August, October and December.
For more information on the projects or the Council, please contact the individuals noted below or Kathleen Cody at Kathleen@fore.org or (510) 832-2663 ext.15. We look forward to an exciting and energized year for the Osteoporosis Council. We are especially eager to have you join us in this national form that unifies our members to Protect Bones and Prevent Fractures for all.

Looking forward to working with you,
Tammy Leonard (IL), Co-Chair

Jeri Nieves (NY), Co-Chair
