The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is a public health association for chronic disease program directors of each state and U.S. territory. Since its founding in 1988, NACDD has been a national leader in the effort to reduce chronic diseases by mobilizing its members to advocate for preventive policies and programs, encourage knowledge sharing and develop model partnerships for health promotion through state and community-based prevention strategies.

Welcome to the Women’s Health Council! The Women’s Health Council (WHC) is a national forum that links state agencies and assists them in advancing and protecting the health of women across the lifespan through chronic disease prevention and control. The mission of the WHC is to foster the public health agenda as it relates to diseases and conditions most affecting women, and stimulate program activities that will prevent and control these diseases/conditions. Since its inception, the WHC has focused on the prevention, detection, and control of osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.

The focus of the Women’s Health Council is to increase awareness of depression as a co-morbidity of chronic disease among CDC staff, Chronic Disease Directors, and program managers of diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic diseases, and to stress the importance of early detection, proper diagnosis, and treatment of depression in women.

The commitment for membership in the Women’s Health Council involves participation in quarterly conference calls. I invite you to become a part of this important national group of “strong, committed men and women.” For more information, please contact David Yum, with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, at 770-458-7400 or by email at dyum@chronicdisease.org. You may also contact me directly.

Thank you.
