Susan has a BA in Industrial Design from California State University Fresno and a has a certificate in Business Management from the University of California Davis. She is a former Creative Director and Vice President of an award winning marketing communications firm.

Susan joined the NACDD as a public health consultant on the diabetes team in 2015 and works on Communities of Practice, PSTAT and Communications. Previously, Susan served the Public Health Institute as a Community Partnership Specialist focusing on state and national partnerships. In this role she launched the Champion Providers initiative which harnesses the power of doctors and dentists to influence policy, systems and environmental change. In 2000 she joined the California Diabetes Program in the California Department of Public Health and became the Program Manager in 2008. Susan received the University of California San Francisco Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional University Management in 2009. She is past Chair of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors’ Diabetes Council. Susan is a former Vice President and Creative Director who developed award-winning marketing communications campaigns for both the public and private sectors.
