Susan joined the NACDD Diabetes Team as a public health consultant in 2015. She supports state health departments in their diabetes prevention and control work funded by CDC grants 1305 and 1422. Susan is the lead for communications on the Diabetes Team and also works collaboratively with state health departments to host State Engagement Meetings aimed at scaling and sustaining the National Diabetes Prevention Program. She is also a facilitator of NACDD’s Communities of Practice which are focused on a specific topic and designed to foster learning, sharing and connecting amongst state health departments.

Previously, Susan served in the Public Health Institute as a Community Partnership Specialist focusing on state and national partnerships. She was also an employee of the University of California San Francisco, and was contracted to work in the California Diabetes Program in the California Department of Public Health, where she worked for 13 years and received the Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional University Management in 2009. She is past Chair of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors’ Diabetes Council. Susan is a former Vice President and Creative Director who developed award-winning marketing communications campaigns for both the public and private sectors. Susan has a BA in Industrial Design from California State University Fresno and a has a certificate in Management from the University of California Davis.
