During 25 years work in the field of chronic disease prevention and control, the perspective member has developed and used skills from all 7 of the Chronic Disease Competency areas of: Building Supporting for Chronic Disease Programs; Designing and Evaluating Programs; Influencing Policies and Systems Change: Leading strategically: Managing People; Managing Programs and Resources; and Using Public Health Science.
Specific expertise exists in leading collaborative groups, presentation skills, understanding and utlizing data, and program management.
Applicant received MSEd from Virginia Tech and undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from Bridgewater College.
Worked at: Virginia Tech (instructor) and student advisor American Red Cross: Assistant Director of Health Services Virginia Department of Health Program Coordinator for Sexual Assault Crisis Prevention Program, and Served as lead of Virginia's Chronic Disease Prevention Program. Currently serving as Program Supervisor within Virginia Medicaid, Long-Term Care Division.
During time of serving as a State Chronic Disease Director the applicant facilitated a state chronic disease collaborative working process that involved program managers, epidemiologists, evaluators and field staff; supervised multi-disciplinary staff, wrote grants, managed comprehensive budgets, and develop program policies.
