In April, NACDD leaders, consultants from its Cardiovascular Health Team, and Members from the Texas Department of State Health Services were selected to participate in a multi-disciplinary planning session to help shape the future of cholesterol management in Dallas, Texas. Hosted by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, participants included Janet Wright of Million Hearts®, leaders in healthcare and academia, and several patients.
Experts in the field shared their insights on barriers to cholesterol management, including communication and issues related to treatment and lifestyle compliance. The NACDD team helped to develop and then voted on actionable strategies that AHA and all participating organizations can prioritize to advance evidence-based diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of high blood cholesterol.
This timely Cholesterol Summit was co-led by Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, Chief Prevention and Medical Officer at AHA and Dr. Mary Ann Bauman, a member of the AHA Cholesterol Advisory Group.
