The PATH to Standardized Laboratory Testing

Monday, June 19, 2017   (0 Comments)

NACDD works collaboratively with CDC, the Endocrine Society and the Partnership for the Accurate Testing of Hormones (PATH) to improve the quality of laboratory measurements for chronic disease biomarkers and to promote the use of standardized measurements in public health practice, research, and clinical care. In February, the Endocrine Society convened the annual meeting of PATH membership, where NACDD was represented by Dr. Namvar Zohoori, NACDD past president.

The meeting focused on sustaining the work to implement recommendations in their strategic plan and communications plans. The decision to downsize from six workgroups to three is expected to improve collaboration in three priority areas: website development, education, and membership. Development of metrics for the workgroups will help PATH demonstrate its success. PATH was recently selected from among three nominees to receive the Excellence in Partnering award from the CDC National Center for Environmental Health Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

PATH partner membership includes representatives from CDC, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, the Association of Public Health Laboratories, the College of American Pathologists, Laboratory Corporation of America, Quest, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the North American Menopause Society, American Thyroid Association, American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, Androgen Excess and PCOS Society, as well as NACDD.
