NACDD Sponsors 7th Annual Smokeless and Spit Tobacco Summit

NACDD joined public and private health partners in Missoula, Montana to share best practices in prevention and cessation efforts regarding smokeless and spit tobacco products. NACDD Invited to Attend the National Association of Local Boards of Health Annual Conference

CDC Reports Decline in Obesity Among Low-Income Preschoolers in Many States
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that after decades of rising rates, obesity among low-income preschoolers declined slightly in 19 states and U.S. territories from 2008 through 2011. Read more...
CDC's Development of Combined Initiative Provides Aid in Reducing Adult & Childhood CD Risk Factors
CDC's new combined initiative provides support to all 50 states and the District of Columbia to reduce the risk factors associated with childhood and adult obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Dr. Kate Lorig, Department of Medicine Director for the Patient Education Research Center at Stanford University and founder of the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-management program (My Toolbox), is recruiting participants for a CDC-funded pilot of a mail-based self-directed Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP). Adapted from existing CDSMP materials, The Active Living with Chronic Conditions Tool Kit was developed to meet the needs of adults with chronic conditions who cannot or do not want to attend the CDSMP workshops in-person or participate online via Better Choices Better Health.
