NACDD is the only organization representing all state and jurisdictional chronic disease staff, dedicated to building capacity and making public health good for the public.
Message from the CEO
Collaboration and coordination are terms that are sometimes thrown around in today’s public health circles due to growing requirements to include such characteristics in grant proposals and coalition strategies. However at NACDD, I continue to see far more than the ‘spirit of collaboration’ revealed in meetings, action plans and relationships. Recently the State of New York’s diabetes team met with the City of New York’s diabetes team to address each other’s recipient activities under the 1422 FOA. The very existence of these sister-grants is proof-positive that CDC is serious about collaboration and coordination, however to learn that two entities as large and as complex as NYC and NY State, sat down together and shared notes, was downright exciting. It was evidence that the days of “silos” are finally fading. As one person said, “With 86 million people suffering from prediabetes, there is plenty of work to go around. We don’t have time to reinvent the wheel.” That perspective points up the hallmark of NACDD’s expansive and inclusive network of professional chronic disease practitioners across the nation. I hope that you will log onto www.chronicdisease.org, update your profile and then join a group that is fighting the same fight as you. Together, we can coordinate our collaboration for sure success.
