NACDD Walking Initiative
NACDD has started a new walking initiative at work called "Heart and Sole". It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s healthy! "Heart and Sole” is a walking program that encourages staff to take a 10 minute brisk walk outside. This is an initiative incorporated by Professional Development Coordinator Soby Tadjalli. "A 10 minute walk has proven to be extremely beneficial to our physical and mental health. We average 2,000 steps and burn at least 40 calories each walk," Soby reports. Some of the health benefits of brisk walking outside include improved cardiovascular health, socializing with colleagues, mental alertness, and vitamin D utilization. The NACDD headquarters staff also participated in the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day on April 4th with a 30 minute extended walk.
