National Diabetes Prevention Program :: Colorado

Colorado

On the path to preventing type 2 diabetes, Colorado is increasing referrals to the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), promoting prediabetes awareness, and advocating that the DPP is a covered benefit for state employees. In the process of achieving these endeavors, the CO Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) partnered with a local media outlet to create a multi-media awareness campaign and worked with the Colorado Business Group on Health to promote awareness of prediabetes and evidence-based programs to employers. As a means to increase referrals, the DPCP utilized the existing 1-800-DIABETES hotline from the American Diabetes Association and promoted the hotline through marketing materials. The DPCP advocated that DPP be offered as a covered benefit for state employees. As a result, the state now covers the DPP for state employees.
