National Diabetes Prevention Program :: Washington

Washington is targeting prevention of type-2 diabetes by creating awareness of evidence-based lifestyle programs like the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and increasing referrals among health care providers. The WA Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) is partnering with the Washington state 211 network in order to raise awareness of the DPP. The DPCP has modified Centers for Disease Control and Prevention marketing materials, which are then distributed at 211 outreach events and mailings to 211 callers. The DPCP is also working with 211 in order to create a statewide referral system for evidence-based lifestyle programs. Additionally, the DPCP is working with health systems to embed DPP into their clinical decision systems.
