The Epidemiology and Evaluation Collaborative is a peer-led group of epidemiologists and evaluators who come together each month to work smarter and more effectively with 1305 and 1422 epidemiology, surveillance, evaluation and performance measures. Addressing Health Disparities in Hypertension Control Fireside Chat
Tuesday, February 7, 2017, 2:30-3:30 pm ET

NACDD, in coordination with CDC’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and Million Hearts®, is continuing the Fireside Chats. Fireside Chats are an interactive format for public health agencies to hear from content experts on a number of issues pertaining to cardiovascular health and 1305/1422 priority areas.

The third fireside chat will be moderated by Dr. Janet Wright, Executive Director of Million Hearts® and will feature Dr. Brent Egan from the Medical University of South Carolina who serves as the Senior Medical Director of the Care Coordination Institute. Dr. Egan currently serves as president for the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks and will share his perspectives on health disparities in hypertension control and share lessons learned, especially around scaling his work with clinics over the last 15 years. The South Carolina Department of Health and the Environment will provide the state perspective on work related to disparities and hypertension and we will joined by Jacqlyn Balis Atkins, Director of the South Carolina Office of Health Equity and Tiffany Mack, Central Office Clinical Coordinator for 1422.

Request for Applications for State Health Department Advanced GIS Training
NACDD, in partnership with CDC and the Children’s Environmental Health Initiative at Rice University, is pleased to announce the release of the Request for Applications for the Advanced Thematic GIS Training for State Health Departments: Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Address Blood Pressure Medication Adherence. All states are eligible to apply. Applications are due February 7, 2017, with notification of award by February 21, 2017. Question and Answer session regarding the RFA will be held Monday, January 9, 2017, 3-4pm ET. Registration is not necessary to attend the Question and Answer session.
