Professional Development Impact & Evaluation

NACDD values its members and their time commitment to participating in professional development activities.  Public health practitioners at state health departments are at the center of our organization and have a unique need for training and professional development in key areas such as epidemiology, evaluation, chronic disease prevention, the four chronic disease domains as related to public health work at the state level and in many other key areas.

NACDD has also expanded its reach in terms of increasing member interest in webinar offerings, Peer-to-Peer learning, GEAR Group platforms and other evidence-based training opportunities.  During FY 2015, NACDD saw an increase in General Member Webinar Registrations and overall participation. NACDD also had several record-breaking webinars in terms of registrations and attendance.  NACDD provides a rich venue for collaboration and cross pollination of ideas.

NACDD wants to continue its success by continuing to engage members and provide highly customized educational content.  NACDD is committed to delivering highly relevant and usable trainings for chronic disease practitioners.

“The CD Academies were instrumental in my success in public health. When I started working for the Louisiana state health department in 2007, I did not have a background in public health…. The Chronic Disease Academy taught me how to transition from individual [health] to population health. It gave me the competencies necessary not only to lead a chronic disease program but an entire unit,” – Former Acting Director (2013) of Health Promotion/Coordinated Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Grant Manager at the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals in Baton Rouge, LA
