October 2013
NACDD is the only organization representing all state and jurisdictional chronic disease staff, dedicated to building capacity and making public health good for the public.
Message from the CEO
As October colors turn to orange and black for Halloween, I remain extremely grateful for all of the pink that I've seen displayed during Breast Cancer Awareness month. I am even more grateful to serve alongside the men and women in public health that treat every month as breast cancer awareness month. Their commitment to link arms with individuals, corporations, organizations and communities has led to a string of pink ribbons that stretch from airlines to cereal boxes to the NFL. I have had the privilege of peeking "behind the ribbons" and seeing the hard work and heart-work of chronic disease professionals across our nation. Like Winston Churchill said, "attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference" and I have personally seen the attitude of a nation resolved to fight all chronic diseases – one ribbon at a time.
