CAREER OPPORTUNITY: Public Health Leadership and Practice Consultant Track A

Consultant will work in NACDD's Public Health Leadership and Practice team and report to the Senior Public Health Leadership and Practice Consultant to manage online learning platform, learner cohort recruitment, faculty logistics, and mentor and coaching assignments for leadership and management skill and knowledge development curriculum for state health department chronic disease prevention professionals. Channels of dissemination will include distance/web-based instruction, mentoring, coaching, communities of practice, and in-person courses. Responsibilities include:

·      Regular attendance at weekly team meeting

·      Participation in two in-person team meetings, locations and dates to be determined

·      Regular attendance at monthly NACDD consultant meeting

·      Contribution to project progress reporting

·      Consultant will assist and support the mission and overall organization development of NACDD, which may include, but is not limited to, participation on NACDD committees, facilitation of program meetings, communication of expertise/knowledge i.e. speaker, member recruitment, education of policy makers, technical assistance, preparation of scientific   publications/presentations and educational activities related to chronic disease control and prevention efforts.

·      Consultant will partner with NACDD Senior Director of Programs to develop a strategic plan/work plan for project implementation. Consultant is also responsible for approving deliverables of agreed upon vendors and reporting vendor challenges/barriers to the Senior Director of Programs.

·      Consultant will assist Lead Consultant(s) with developing a project work plan and will partner as needed with NACDD Director of Program Evaluation for guidance.

·      Prior work with state health and/or national non-governmental health and education organizations preferred.

·      Exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively orally and written to a wide range of professionals at different levels, internally and externally; listening attentively.

·      Understand the importance of keeping current industry or subject matter expertise.

·      Establish and maintain professional credibility and diplomacy.


Preferred Experience:

·      Bachelors degree or equivalent and 5 years of experience in the public health field.

·      At least three years of work experience in a state, county or local health department- strongly preferred.

·      Prior Association or other not–for-profit experience- preferred.

·      Demonstrate knowledge of group learning and facilitation experience- preferred.

·      Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) is required


Classification:  Contractual/Consultant status

Location: Remote within the United States of America


Contract Duration: Project contract is 6 months with possibility for extension There is potential for continued duration of the position in the future, dependent upon continued funding. Of note, this position is grant funded and contingent upon NACDD receiving official notification of the grant award.


Annual Compensation: Based on education and experience.
