Message from the CEO
NACDD Changes Board Leadership

After distinguished service as the president of NACDD's Board of Directors since 2013, Sue Grinnell of Washington State turned the leadership of NACDD over to Iowa's Chronic Disease Chief, Jill Myers-Geadelmann.  Sue served on the NACDD Board as its president-elect before taking the helm in 2013.  She navigated the organization through the rollout of the Affordable Care Act and spearheaded the organization's five year strategic plan among other notable achievements.  She will remain in the role of Past President of NACDD and now serves Washington State as its Special Assistant for Health Reform and Innovation.  

NACDD welcomes Jill Myers-Geadelmann as its new President of the NACDD Board of Directors.  Jil
l is the Chief of Chronic Disease Prevention and Management in the state of Iowa.  Jill received her Bachelors of Science in Education/Community Health Education, from Iowa State University and later earned her Nursing Degree from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing.  She serves on the American Cancer Society's Leadership Board for Iowa and has expertise in diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke as well as WISEWOMAN, coordinated chronic disease and health promotion.  She is the NACDD Representative for the CDC's Healthy Brain Initiative and the End of Life Project. Jill has served on NACDD's Board of Directors since 2011 and as President-Elect since 2012.  As a graduate of the Great Plains Public Health Leadership Institute, Jill demonstrates significant leadership and management expertise in her roles as Board Member and Chronic Disease Chief.

On March 18th, NACDD announced the winners of its annual leadership, excellence and impact awards for 2014.  Joseph W. Cullen Award for outstanding contributions to Chronic Disease Prevention and Control outside the traditional public health field, was awarded to Kathleen Nolan, of the National Association of Medicaid Directors (NAMD) for her work with the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid sustainability.  She has had a long history of service to states through the National Governor's Association, ASTHO and the Colorado Department of Health.  Read more...
NACDD conducted its official Annual Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 18th at 2pm Eastern Time.  The meeting was held by conference call and addressed official business of the organization.  This year, NACDD's sitting president, Sue Grinnell of Washington, transferred her leadership of the association to Jill Myers-Geadelmann of Iowa. Financial reports were given and approved and John Robitscher addressed the members regarding the State of the Association. The meeting invites an appointed representative from each state and US Territory to attend.
