March 2017 Impact Brief
March 2017
NACDD is the only organization representing all state and jurisdictional chronic disease staff, dedicated to building capacity and making public health good for the public.

Earlier this month, Dr. Mehul Dalal, president of the Board of Directors of NACDD and Connecticut chronic disease director, testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services about the important role NACDD plays in supporting state and national chronic disease prevention efforts.

During his testimony, Dr. Dalal made the case that the Prevention and Public Health Fund (the Prevention Fund) supports our nation’s ability to maintain a strong economic position by providing a return on healthcare dollars and reducing unnecessary spending. Dr. Dalal was one of many distinguished participants providing testimony for the House’s Public Witness Day, including representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association, National Marrow Donor Program/Be The Match and the National Indian Health Board.

I encourage you to read the transcript or watch the video of Dr. Dalal’s compelling economic case for further investment in health promotion — and be sure to share it with your colleagues and on social media (@NACDDinfo and Facebook.com/ChronicDiseaseDirectors).

As our political and economic landscape continues to change, our mission to support disease prevention and to promote health is more important than ever.

At NACDD, we remain strongly committed to demonstrating the value of your work, whether in Washington or within your local community.

NACDD Board President Dr. Mehul Dalal with the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies, Rep. Tom Cole, and the committee’s Ranking Member Rep. Rosa DeLauro.
