The cancer arena is where I have spent all my Public Health career; however, as our Chronic Disease service area becomes more integrated, each diasease specific program will become more versed in the other diseases.
I also have 13+ years of phblebotomy experience, and try to maintain those skills through volunteering for the HIV/AIDS Service in our agency.
I have a BS in Health Education. It is a K-12 degree. I immediately went into grad school following graduation. My MPH is in Health Promotion Science.
While in college I worked as a phlebotomist in both hospital and blood donor settings. During this time, I maintained a phlebotomy certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
Three years after graduating from grad school I acquired my Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification. I believe this certification help me acquire my position with the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) 3 years later.
I began with OSDH in the role of the Recruitment Coordinator for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCEDP). Approximately two years later, I was able to move to the position of the Comprehensive Cancer Control Coordinator, which I still hold.
