The Texas Department of State Health Services is seeking a Manager III in the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section.

Job description: Under the leadership of the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section (HPCDPS) Director, position performs complex managerial work overseeing daily operations and activities of the Diabetes and School Health Branch, including but not limited to, diabetes and school health programs. Develops and oversees strategic planning and ensures that goals and objectives are consistent with those of DSHS executive and section management, Texas State Legislature, and federal grants. Coordinates budget, personnel, other administration functions, and decision-making for branch programs. Work involves supervising professional staff members; developing program guidelines, rules, and priorities. Ensures collaboration and coordination with other programs and partners. Oversees the preparation of grant applications and budgets; monitors budgets and expenditures. Participates in the legislative process. Provides direction and guidance in support of the Governor-appointed Texas Diabetes Council. Consults with the Chronic Disease Epidemiology on surveillance, research, and evaluation projects. Works under the general direction of the HPCDPS Director with considerable latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment.
