National Association Of Chronic Disease Directors Installs New Leaders

October 21, 2015 -Atlanta, GA

The National Association of Chronic Diseae Directors has inducted its new Board of Directors that reflects a true cross-section of chronic disease state elite leadership.

At its teleconferenced Annual Business Meeting for the Association's 50 member states and 9 US Jurisdictions earlier this month, the election of new officers was codified.  This annual event allows the Association to vote on business items including the ratification of new members to the Board of Directors.  This year, NACDD welcomed new members at large as well as two new excecutive commitee officers.  Stepping into the presidency is Dr. Namvar Zohoori from Arkansas and treasurer Tomas Aguilar from Pennsylvania.

Additionally, Dr. Mehul Dalal (CT) is the Association's new President-elect, and Andrew Wapner (OH), David Hoffman (NY) and Dr. Evelyn Walker (MS) are members-at-large.  Service on the NACDD Board of Directors requires both nomination and election by its 59 voting members.

This new Board will help the nation's largest professional organization for state-based chronic disease professionals, navigate the changing areas of chronic disease prevention and control and health promotion.  "Our Board of Directors is one of the most strategic vehicles our Association has to drive real-time, effective change at the state and jurisdictional level," said John Robitscher, CEO of NACDD.

The Board also represents a geographical cross-section of health departments.  It meets bi-monthly by phone to address the ongoing needs of chronic disease divisions across the nation and once a year face-to-face.  It focuses much of its efforts on the federal funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the projects that those funds direct both regionally and nationally.

It is a privilege to welcome the 2015-2016 NACDD Board of Directors.

The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is a national, public health nonprofit, serving the health departments of all 50 states and US Territories working in chronic disease prevention and control.  For more information, please contact John Patton at:
