About Us - School Health

Who We Are

NACDD School Health is committed to working to help build the capacity of Chronic Disease Directors and other health department staff involved in the health of children and youth. Its mission is to assist states and territories in reducing the risk and burden of chronic disease in school communities to promote lifelong health and to support academic success.

What We Do

We assist Chronic Disease Directors and their staff to make informed decisions about a variety of school health issues by providing technical assistance, up-to-date information and resources, and professional development. Our work focuses on school health issues most directly related to preventing chronic disease - nutrition, physical education and physical activity, and the management and care of chronic conditions in schools. We are a resource for people who have ever wondered how to tap into the resources of a health department and for those who currently work in a health department and want to know how to expand their reach in school health.
