Amanda Martínez, MPH, MSN, RN

Public Health Leadership & Practice

Amanda K. Martínez has more than 15 years of experience in project management and direct services primarily related to child and school health. Amanda has worked as a public health consultant with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) since 2014. While at NACDD, Amanda has authored numerous publications, provided professional development and technical assistance, and developed additional resources to build the capacity of state health and education departments, school districts, and partner organizations to improve nutrition, physical activity, and the management of chronic conditions in schools, and promote environmental and system changes within the context of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) framework. 

Prior to NACDD, Amanda worked at the National School Boards Association for seven years, where she led a project to support leadership and governance for coordinated school health and managed other projects on various health topics, such as food allergy and anaphylaxis. Much of her experience at the community level focused on HIV, sexually transmitted disease, and adolescent pregnancy prevention, including work as a prevention team leader at a youth center serving urban minority and immigrant youth. In addition, Amanda is a registered nurse with clinical experience in obstetrics and medical-surgical nursing. 

Amanda resides in Charlottesville, Va., with her husband and three young children. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outside and active, and traveling and making connections to new cultures and people around the world.

Amanda holds a BS in Biology and an MPH, Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an MSN, Clinical Nurse Leader from the University of Virginia.
