Amy Greene is a public health consultant who works with federal and state governments to create positive and engaging evidenced-based solutions for public health problems. After nearly two decades working across multiple sectors and as a licensed clinical social worker, Amy knows that active listening and asking tough questions lead to outstanding outcomes. In her 12 years with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, Amy has served in a variety of roles: strategic planner, educator, facilitator, writer, and evaluator as well as a trusted colleague and friend.

Amy has spoken at numerous state and national conferences on topics related to the health and wellness of the nation’s school children. In 2002, she delivered a keynote presentation at the American School Health Association’s National Meeting on the impact of health, including mental health, on academic achievement. In 2013, Amy co-authored the Journal of Adolescent Health article “Do Health and Education Agencies in the United States Share Responsibility for Academic Achievement and Health?” The article reviewed 25 years of evidence about the relationship of adolescents’ academic achievement and health behaviors, and the findings were highlighted as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign the same year.

Over the years, Amy has expanded her portfolio with the Association to include health systems change work with the Cancer and the Diabetes Councils. Prior to joining NACDD, Amy worked with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials as the Adolescent and School Health Policy Director, and she served as Director of Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention with the Tennessee Department of Health.

Amy holds an MPH and an MSW from Columbia University, where she was awarded the John and Kathleen Public Health Humanitarian Award for “demonstrated excellence in advancing human rights and values in healthcare and prevention.” In her free time, Amy is an avid runner and CrossFit coach. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two sons.
