Joanna Craver DiBenedetto has been working as a subject matter expert in the field of diabetes prevention since 2012 with the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program. She has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition, and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management.

Joanna has more than a decade of experience in scaling public health initiatives, including childhood obesity prevention and adult chronic disease programs. She has worked in all aspects of programming, from curriculum building and evaluation to quality assurance, marketing, recruitment, and participant retention.

In her role for NACDD, Joanna provides content updates, oversight, training, and technical assistance on the utilization of its online resource, the National DPP Coverage Toolkit. She also provides support to various State Health Departments and Chronic Disease Directors in their collaboration with their Medicaid agencies, commercial plans, employer groups, and other stakeholders as they work toward coverage of the National DPP Lifestyle Change Program.

In her previous role as Director of Prevention at the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Joanna assisted more than 50 DSMES programs in building a sustainable National Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Change Program. Joanna also is a trained Grand Master Lifestyle Coach for the National DPP, implementing more than 25 lifestyle coach trainings and training more than 400 lifestyle coaches.
