Michelle Hansen


Michelle Hansen, RD, CDE, MS


Michelle is a Public Health Consultant in the Diabetes Practice Area at NACDD. She worked for more than 10 years at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and for more than 20 years in diabetes prevention and management. She was the Diabetes Program Manager and directed the statewide initiative to implement the National Diabetes Prevention Program in Colorado as the Chronic Disease Section Manager and Self-Management Services Director. During her tenure, she also implemented health systems interventions and social marketing campaigns, and developed strategic statewide chronic disease partnerships.

Prior to providing leadership at CDPHE, Michelle worked clinically as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator for 13 years at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes. She also managed a Women, Infants, and Children’s (WIC) clinic at Tri-County Health Department after graduating with a Master of Science from Colorado State University and obtaining an undergraduate degree in nutrition from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
