NIH Pathways to Prevention Workshop: Achieving Health Equity in Preventive Services
June 19-20, 2019

Register for the free Pathways to Prevention (P2P) Workshop: Achieving Health Equity in Preventive Services. The workshop is open to the public and is designed for researchers, practitioners, and other professionals interested in clinical preventive services in a healthcare setting and issues of health equity. Registration is required, and attendees can join either in person at the Natcher Conference Center (Building 45) NIH Main Campus, Bethesda, Maryland  or via NIH VideoCast (in-person attendance is strongly encouraged).
This P2P workshop will assess the available scientific evidence on achieving health equity in the use of clinical preventive services in a healthcare setting, focusing on the three leading causes of death in the United States: cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Reminder: Travel scholarships available to attend the 2019 Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists Annual Conference

CDC, NACDD, and Rice University are pleased to announce the availability of travel scholarships for GIS Network members to attend the 2019 Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) Annual Conference June 2-6 in Raleigh, North Carolina. 
All state, local, tribal and territorial health department staff who use GIS for chronic disease prevention and control are eligible to apply, including those who have already registered and/or proceeded with travel approval through their health departments. Scholarship recipients will be asked to 1) complete a short online survey regarding how you are using GIS, and 2) assist with staffing the NACDD GIS exhibit table for two thirty-minute shifts during the CSTE Conference.

Demonstration Projects for Providers to Reduce Hypertension among Priority Populations The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) has a partnership with the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to increase physician awareness and practices to prevent, detect, and control hypertension among priority populations, and refer patients with hypertension or at high-risk for hypertension to community evidence-based, self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) programs with clinical support and other related evidence-based lifestyle change programs. Interested health care organizations should complete the online application form no later than March 30, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
