Susan Lopez-Payan, BA


Susan Lopez-Payan has extensive experience in marketing communications and worked in public health for more than 15 years. As a consultant for the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, Susan works with State Health Departments across the US to expand the National Diabetes Prevention Program and to promote Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support.

She is the lead for communications in NACDD’s diabetes practice area. Susan is the former Manager of the Diabetes Program at the California Department of Public Health and was awarded the Chancellor’s Award from the University of California, San Francisco for exceptional management. Susan served on the Diabetes Coalition of the California Board of Directors and was elected Chair of the NACDD Diabetes Council.

Susan is a former Vice President and Creative Director of an award-winning marketing communications firm based in Washington, DC. Susan earned BA in Industrial Design from California State University, Fresno, and a business certificate from the University of California, Davis.

Susan lives in Sacramento, Ca., with her husband and two cats. She loves dancing, boxing, hiking, and her husband’s skill with the grill.
