April 2016 Impact Brief
April 2016
NACDD is the only organization representing all state and jurisdictional chronic disease staff, dedicated to building capacity and making public health good for the public.

NACDD's GEAR Groups are already producing dynamic learnings after only two meetings.  In this issue, you will read about Gearing Up For Payment Reform from GEAR Group #3.  Last month we saw HHS Secretary Burwell announce the landmark decision that Medicare will soon cover the National Diabetes Prevention Program.  Similarly, as part of a CDC funded National DPP reimbursement project, NACDD is collaborating with a leading health intelligence firm to demonstrate alternative payment models with regard to the Medicaid population.  This June, NACDD will host a Medicaid Thought-Leaders Roundtable in Washington, D.C. and certainly payment reform will be on the agenda among other issues.  It is clear to all, that payment models are critical to overall healthcare reform.  Now, more than ever before, we are seeing real traction in this area.  NACDD would like to hear about your state's stories concerning payment reform and together we will continue to advance this important work.  You can email me directly at
